Panel to take legal help on ‘Panchagramala’ land

Special committee convenes first meeting on the long-pending issue at Secretariat

The committee set up under the chairmanship of Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas to resolve the ‘Panchagramala’ land issue had its first meeting at the Secretariat on Monday.

Panel member and Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said the panel would deliberate on the issues and take the help of legal experts as some cases are still in the court of law.

The committee would report to the government and a decision would be taken not affecting the people or the Simhachalam Devasthanam, the minister said.

Other members of the panel MLA Annamreddy Adeep Raj, Special Chief Secretary Manmohan Singh, Endowments Commissioner Padmaja, Visakhapatnam Collector V. Vinay Chand and Simhachalam temple K. Ramachandra Mohan took part in the meeting.

At another meeting on the Chittivalasa Jute Mill issue, Labour Minister Gummanur Jayaram and Mr. Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao asked the jute mill management that workers would not vacate the quarters until their arrears were cleared.

One instalment of payment should be made with immediate effect, the Ministers said.

An official release said that factory owner K.K. Bajoria had agreed to pay bonus to the workers in a month. The Tourism Minister wanted him to provide jobs in the logistics park he had proposed to develop on the land. Principal Secretary (labour and employment) B. Udaya Lakshmi, Joint Commissioner Venkataratnam and trade union leaders K. Varahala Raju, Chilla Venkataramana, Jeeru Venkata Reddy, Dalli Appala Naidu participated in the meeting.
