Over 8 lakh cast votes in parishad polls

The polling per cent recorded in the fourth ordinary elections to the MPTCs and ZPTCs in 22 mandals of the district during the first phase of polling conducted on Sunday was put at 83.92, according to the final report received on Monday.

Out of the 9,65,504 voters, 8,10,265 cast their votes. More woman voters – 4,13,871 -- compared to 3,69,394 men voters -- participated in the polling, according to a press release from the CEO of Zilla Praja Parishad Maheswara Reddy.

Pendurthi with 91.97 per cent topped the 22 mandals, followed by Sabbavaram (89.86 per cent).
