An organisation for promoting donation of bodies for medical research named after former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu was launched in the city on Sunday. It coincided with the beginning of the birth centenary of the Marxist leader, who died in 2010 and donated his body to Kolkata Medical College.
The new organisation was launched by Superintendent of Government Hospital N.N. Raju. Principal of ANITS V.S.R.K. Prasad is its honorary president.
AMC Anatomy HoD Adinarayana, diabetes specialist Ramesh Kumar, CPI(M) leaders Ch. Narsinga Rao and K. Lokanadham were present.
