Fair prices shops not supplying kerosene, sugar, says ZPTC member

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani has said the government has increased the ex gratia given for natural death under Chandranna Bima scheme from ₹ 30,000 to ₹2 lakh and advised officials and ZPTC members to publicise the same for the benefit of people.

Ms. Lalam Bhavani presided over the Standing Committee meeting of Zilla Parishad here on Friday.

The ex gratia would be payable under the scheme would be applicable when a person below 50 years of age died a natural death, with effect from October this year. The family members would, however, have to apply within five days after the death. She advised the officials to organise extensive publicity campaigns both in rural and urban areas as many were not aware of it.

Bheemunipatnam ZPTC member Appa Rao said though the beneficiaries had taken possession of the houses under the NTR Housing Scheme, power connection was yet to be given.

Chintapalli ZPTC Padma Kumari said fair price shops were not supplying kerosene and sugar. There were power cuts in the villages and not supplying kerosene through PDS would add to the woes of the people.

Makavarapalem ZPTC Kumari said that there were no biology teachers in three schools in Makavarapalem. District Education Officer Nagamani said there was a shortage of biology teachers due to regularisation.
