NSTL gets award for self-reliance

In recognition of the design and development of series of indigenous advanced Integrated Anti-Submarine Warfare Complex successfully inducted by the Indian Navy, the city-based Naval Science and Technological Laboratory was conferred DRDO’s Agni Award for Excellence in Self-Reliance.

Scientist and Director of NSTL C.D. Malleswar received the highest DRDO honour for team effort in achieving self-reliance – the Agni Award – from Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at at a programme conducted recently in New Delhi. The award carried a citation along with Rs. 5 lakh honorarium for the team, according to a release issued here.

The NSTL has designed and developed a series of successfully inducted indigenous advanced Integrated Anti-submarine Warfare Complex (IAC), an advanced Weapon Launch / Fire Control System with the State-of-the-art technologies.

The effort of the NSTL team has enabled India to be self-reliant in this critical area of Naval weapon launch and control systems for surface, underwater and air platforms.

This has also resulted in savings in foreign exchange as the indigenous systems are cost effective.

Scientist ‘G’ and Principal Associate Director of NSTL Debasish Chakraborti, scientists, officers, members of NSTL Civil Employees’ Union and Works Committee and all NSTL employees congratulated Mr. Malleswar and his team on the achievement.
