Now, it’s a triple-degree in five years

Andhra University launches the course in association with Sweden institute. ECE and chemical engineering courses have been added to the existing courses under the twinning programme with KU at Leuven in Belgium. Students would study for two years each at AU and at KU.

Andhra University has launched a triple-degree five-year integrated programme in engineering in association with Blekinge Institute of Technology of Sweden, here on Monday.

The programme, first of its kind, would offer B. Tech and M. Tech from Andhra University and MS from BTH, Sweden, with the students studying the first three-and-a-half years at AU and the remaining one-and-a-half years at BTH, AU Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju said at a press conference here on Monday. It is being offered in ECE, computer science, and mechanical engineering branches with an intake of 10 students in each branch.

ECE and chemical engineering courses have been added to the existing courses under the twinning programme with KU at Leuven in Belgium. Students would study for two years each at AU and at KU.

AU entered into an MoU with University of Pisa (Italy) for exchange programmes in zoology and other natural sciences. Registrar of AU K. Rama Mohana Rao and representative of the Italian university Givlio Petroni singed the MoU.

Prof. Raju also said that the university would start collaborative dual degree programmes in business management and hospital administration with Florida International University from the next academic year. It would enter into an MoU with Wollega University of Ethiopia for exchange programmes.

Response to Andhra University’s stall at the education fair held in Nepal recently, which was attended by Director of International Affairs E.N. Dhanamjaya Rao, was good, Prof. Raju said.

Fee concession

Prof. Raju announced 30 per cent fee concession to the candidates belonging to SAARC countries, to encourage students from these countries to study here.

Rector E.A. Narayana, HoD of Biotechnology B.V. Sandeep were also present.
