The Telugu Desam Party has charged Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy with not utilising his two-day visit for a focused intervention on various issues, including industrial growth, road projects and the long-pending Simhachalam Devasthanam lands issue in the district.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, former minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy said the Chief Minister could have used the visit to review the proposals made by various industries that required approval.
The visit merely appeared to please his Ministers and MLAs.

He said the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant sought land to set up a cement factory. HPCL expansion required the Central government permissions. The US-based Brighton wanted to set up a plant. The four-laning of Ananadapuram-Anakapalle road did not materialise.
The proposal for six-laning of the National Highway also came to a standstill as the company executing it bowed out.
The senior TDP leader said during the Chief Minister’s last visit he urged that a meeting be convened with the advocate-general to sort out the legal issues paving way for a resolution to the Simhachalam Devasthanam lands problem.

He alleged that since the Endowments Minister and the Chief Minister were not on talking terms the meeting was not convened.
TDP rural president and MLA G. Rama Naidu said though he sought appointment to submit a memorandum during the Chief Minister’s visit, he was told that there was no time.
