‘Kiran will continue as Chief Minister’

Rajya Sabha member K. Chiranjeevi on Monday said that he was not aware of any decision to induct him into the Union Cabinet.

In a brief chat with reporters at the airport in Visakhapatnam, the actor-turned-politician, who was in the city to take part in the birthday bash of his Rajya Sabha colleague T. Subbarami Reddy, said he had no indication on his swearing-in as a Union Minister in the reshuffle proposed in a few days.

There were reports in a section of the media that the Congress leadership decided to induct him as a Minister of State with independent portfolio.

Replying to questions, he said as a disciplined worker of the party, he was ready to take up any responsibility entrusted to him by the Congress high-command. He said he would do whatever the high command asked him to do.

Ruling out change of guard in the State, he said there was no proposal to change Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. “Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy is performing well,” he said.

Asked to comment on alleged lack of coordination among the Chief Minister and Ministers, he said proper coordination should be there among the workers, Ministers and government. He had brought to the notice of the party leadership the need to have proper coordination at all levels to strengthen the party, Mr. Chiranjeevi added.
