Mechanical stream preferred by GITAM joinees

1,200 students have joined the Vizag-based university, which offers various B.Tech. programmes.

GITAM University’s engineering admissions got a good response from students here on Sunday. Around 1,200 students have joined in various B.Tech. programmes offered by the university at three campuses. B.Tech. seats in ECE, Mechanical, EEE, CSE, Civil, and in Dual Degree programmes (B.Tech.+ M.Tech.) were exhausted in Visakhapatnam campus in the counselling on Sunday.

For the first time in five years, mechanical engineering has emerged as the favourite among engineering aspirants followed by ECE, CSE, Civil and EEE.

The university denied admission to 500 students who have not scored 60 per cent in Intermediate in group subjects.

The five-year B.Arch. admissions, also were conducted during the counselling, basing on the rank obtained in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Architecture Council of Architecture, New Delhi.

Vice-Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam expressed satisfaction over the smooth and successful counselling.

According to Director (Admissions) K. Narendra the vacant seats in other B.Tech. programmes will be filled on the final day of counselling Monday.

GITAM Institute of Technology Principal K. Lakshmiprasad and senior faculty members the university spoke at length about the significance of various engineering programmes of the university.
