The CPI (Maoist) termed Independence Day on Saturday as a black day as independence failed to uplift the Girijans.
The Galikonda area committee of the party erected black banners at Theemulabonda in G.K. Veedhi mandal on Friday. The writings on the banners said the “independence was not for Girijans but for the imperialists, landlords and rich industrialists who are plundering the country’s wealth”. Earlier, the east division committee of the banned party issued a press release asking people to boycott the Independence Day celebrations and hoist black flags every where. What happened on August 15, 1947 was transfer of power from one imperialist to imperialists who are controlling economy and politics of the country. Land was being taken away from people to benefit big investors to set up industries.
