In times of change learners inherit the earth; while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists, professor of IIM Kolkata C. Panduranga Bhatta told students of GITAM School of International Business (GSIB) quoting American author Eric Hoffer.
Addressing the third graduation ceremony of the GSIB, the founder coordinator of Business Ethics and Communication Group and Coordinator of Management Centre for Human Values at the IIM Kolkata urged the students to be humble and lifelong learners and be open to learn from all quarters.
The modern concept of ‘inclusive prosperity’ can be explained by the simple statement of Sir M. Visweswaraiah who called upon people to ensure that others are happy to be happy, he said. He quoted from life of Ashoka and told the students to follow the right path of reverence for life, tolerance, benevolence and respect for nature. Delivering the graduation address, Executive Director of EXIM Bank of India Prabhakar Dalal called upon the students to “try not to become a man of success but a man of value” (Einstein) and told them to try and become good humans.

Underscoring the importance of a holiday to recharge the body and the mind he said that everyone needs at least a two-week holiday every year. He emphasised on moral and ethical values.
The GISB focuses on the needs of the industry and has executive education programmes. It also offers consultancy to industry, GISB director V.K. Kumar said. While congratulating the graduates, he expressed hope that they would bring laurels to the school. He urged the students to work hard and have a passion for their work.
A total of 121 students of the outgoing MBA batch (2010-12) and nine from earlier batches received their Master of Business Administration (international business/international banking and finance/global logistics and supply chain management) degrees at the graduation ceremony.
