Man held on murder charge

The Gopalpatnam police have cracked the murder-for-gain case that was registered on November 17 in the Patha Gopalpatnam area.

On that day, Kamala (44), a housewife, was found strangled to death by her son Rajesh.

The body was found under the cot and there were signs of struggle.

According to ACP (north zone) C.M. Naidu, gold nose rings and earrings were forcibly removed, leaving bleeding injuries on the body.

“The chain around the neck was also missing. We booked a case of murder for gain under IPC Sections 302 and 380,” said Mr. Naidu.

The police, after eliminating various , zeroed in on a relative, who had not turned up despite knowing about the tragedy. He was identified as Sarveswara Rao, a driver and resident of Madhurawada.

We kept a watch on him. On Thursday, he was arrested. Blood-stained gold ornaments were also recovered from him, said Gopalpatnam SHO Bala Surya Rao.
