Safety awareness should be made an integral part of the Make-in-India campaign, ambassador for the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Jitendra C. Patel has said.

Addressing the media here on Friday on the eve of a seminar being organised by the ASSE AP Chapter here on ‘Changing opportunities for the professionals in the field,’ Mr. Patel said the Make-in-India campaign launched by the Prime Minister would attract foreign investment and create job opportunities but it would be incomplete without awareness about safety and the requisite steps to improve it.

He said both major industries as well as small-scale units should take adequate measures to improve the safety environment. T he AP and Telangana chapters of the ASSE were doing well, he said. Right now, there were four chapter in the country — Tamil Nadu, AP, Telangana, and Maharashtra. “Gujarat and Karnataka are also evincing interest in launching chapters,” he added.
