In a fight between two groups of the Congress party, the one led by Elamanchili MLA U.V. Ramanamurthy Raju (Kannababu) triumphed in the elections to the posts of Directors of the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) on Monday. The Telugu Desam and YSR Congress supporters participated in the election, the former disobeying the party’s directive to stay away from the election.

Son of Mr. Kannababu, Sukumar Varma is all set to claim the post of president of DCCB in the election to be held on Tuesday.

The group led by DCC president Karanam Dharmasri, who was a strong aspirant for the post of DCCB president but could not contest as his PACS was put on default list, managed two posts while that of Mr. Kannababu bagged eight in the A group of directors posts, which were elected by presidents of PACS. In group B, elected by presidents of other cooperative societies representing fishermen, weavers, employees associations, etc. Congress and Telugu Desam won one each.

Supporters of Telugu Desam, participating in the election and largely supporting the Elamanchili MLA’s group, was the result of internal bickering in Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress supporters also supported this group as the number of votes the successful candidates received had indicated.

Those won were B. Demudu Naidu (Ommili), M. Mahalakshmi (Jannavaram), G. Satyadeva (Kothakota), U. Sukumar Varma (Rambilli), Chelluri Paidappadu (Majjivalsa), S. Srinivasa Rao (Kasimkota), G.
