Kanchi Vasudeva Rao feted

Noted journalist 82-year-old Kanchi Vasudeva Rao was felicitated at a function in the city on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, former managing director of Eenadu Telugu daily M. Apparao, recalled the services of the journalist to the newspaper and the ideals he professed. Former Rector of Andhra University A. Prasanna Kumar said the upright scribe lived in poverty all the time despite receiving a President's medal as early as in 1955 and being a writer of proven skills. President of Vizag Journalists' Forum M. Yugandhar Reddy presided, Leader Telugu eveninger editor V.V. Rama Murthy, noted Telugu scholar and columnist D.V. Surya Rao, a former colleague of the scribe Amar, Madhunamurthy and others spoke in praise of Mr. Vasudeva Rao and gave a call for the present day journalists to emulate him.

Mr. Vasudeva Rao, in his reply said small newspapers which he brought out and worked in provided opportunities for creative writing and he had always felt journalism as a sacred profession. Senior journalist R. Babu Rao proposed a vote of thanks.
