A large number of people are turning up at the centres issuing Aadhaar cards in the city, which are being run by a private agency.
The condition that LPG refills will be issued only after quoting the Aadhaar number is forcing people to make a beeline for the centres.
The centre located at a shopping complex in Dwaraka Nagar is witnessing heavy rush, with people of all ages thronging it.

Senior citizens and children are having a tough time, as they are forced to wait for long hours to get their turn for registration. Proprietors of other shops in the complex are a worried lot, as they are losing business with the entire premises being occupied by people.
The big crowds at the centres are expected to come down after Joint Collector Praveen Kumar told representatives of the oil companies and LPG distributors that delivery of LPG refills has nothing to do with Aadhaar number.
At a meeting with distributors on Tuesday, Mr. Praveen Kumar instructed them to educate people on this issue. Banners must be put up at all important junctions and near shops of dealers and FP shops, he said.

“No instruction has been received from the government linking Aadhaar card to the government schemes. But there are misgivings. The people are worried. It is the duty of the government as well as the LPG distributors and dealers to clear their doubts,” Mr. Praveen Kumar said.
He also instructed the representative of the HPCL to stop sending SMS to consumers asking them to furnish details of Aadhaar number. Consumers should not be insisted on filling the Know Your Connection form.
‘More centres soon’
“Nearly 12 lakh more Aadhaar cards have to be distributed in the city, and there is no question of taking Aadhaar cards into consideration till the distribution is completed,” Mr. Praveen Kumar said, and promised that more Aadhaar registration centres would be opened soon. “People need not worry about registering for Aadhaar cards,” he added.
