Joint Collector L. Siva Sankar has said that 4,385 acres in Rambilli and S. Rayavaram mandals was handed over for the first phase works of the Naval Alternate Operating Base (NAOB) project, in 2005.
At a meeting on Thursday, he said the proposals for land alienation had been sent to the government, but a State-level Coordination Committee meeting was yet to be held.
Capt. K. Adinarayana of Indian Navy brought to the notice of the Joint Collector that the Navy had parted with eight acres for laying of a road to the villages of Rambilli mandal and the government needed to compensate for the same. The Joint Collector also asked Anakapalle Revenue Divisional Officer M.V. Suryakala to initiate remedial measures when the Naval authorities brought to his notice that the villagers were obstructing the project works.
