IT layout will be developed at Kapuluppada: Lokesh

Several IT companies are evincing interest in starting their operations in Visakhapatnam and to accommodate them in the first phase 250 acres of land will be developed at Kapuluppada IT Layout, Minister for IT Nara Lokesh has said.

Accompanied by Secretary, IT, K. Vijyanand, he visited the layout being developed for IT companies on Monday.

So far 6,000 jobs had been provided in the IT sector and another 30,000 jobs would be created by March 2019, he said.

The government’s effort was directed at creating one lakh jobs in the IT sector and two lakh in electronics by next year, Mr. Lokesh said.

A total of 30 companies, including that of cell-phone maker Lava, would come up in Andhra Pradesh. Kia Motors would come up in Ananatapur district.

The APIIC land given to companies would be resumed if they did not start work functioning in the stipulated time, he said.

Tourism events were also planned every month to attract youth and put the city on the tourism map, the Minister said.

Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor to Chief Minister J.A. Chowdary, A P Electronics and IT Agency CEO Tirumala Rao Chamalla, APIIC Chief Engineer Prasad and IT Joint Director Sankar Reddy accompanied the Minister.
