Infant swallows lemon, dies

A 10-month-old boy died after swallowing a lemon at Indira Nagar of Kasimkota mandal in the district on Monday.

S. Rohit Sai swallowed lemon after playing with it for sometime. Rohit’s mother Varalakshmi reportedly placed the lemon under the boy’s pillow on Sunday night. On Monday morning, Rohit started playing with it and suddenly swallowed it.

On coming to know that the lemon was caught in the throat, making it difficult for their son to breathe, his parents rushed him to a private hospital at Anakapalle, where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

Varalakshmimarried Kanakeswara Rao, soldier in the Army, who was staying at Maddilapalem in the city. Varalakshmi had gone to her parental home a few days ago.
