The district administration and the NTPC officials have discussed measures to be taken to lay a parallel railway track to the existing one from Jaggayyapalem in the city to NTPC’s Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant at Parawada, . Collector N. Yuvaraj directed the revenue officials to take up a preliminary survey to identify the land belonging to different organisations to lay the 19.36 km rail track. Officials estimated that 124.94 acres of land is required for the parallel track. State government’s land to an extent of 13.75 acres and land belonging to VUDA, APIIC, AP Genco and other State government organisations, VPT, Railways and other Central Government organisations and 2.36 acres belonging to private individuals is existing on the route of the proposed rail track.
