It was a huge responsibility given to him by the Supreme Court and he is looking forward to Sri Satya Sai Baba’s guidance in accomplishing the task, Sunil Gavaskar said at a function organised by the Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar here on Friday, on the apex court’s proposal to make him head of the BCCI after asking BCCI president N. Srinivasan to quit following the IPL scam.
“I will do good for the game which is in the hearts of the people and looking for guidance from the Swami,” Gavaskar said while addressing the school children.
But the former cricketer left immediately after the meeting even as reporters tried to meet him and get additional information on Supreme Court’s proposal.

After the Supreme Court made its proposals on Thursday, president of Andhra Cricket Association and former Chairman of Bar Council of India D.V. Subba Rao said he court should have given more time for the BCCI to respond to its proposals.
The legal luminary was of the opinion that Gavaskar would not be able to take up the job as he was under contract with the BCCI as a TV commentator.
All members of the BCCI should not be considered tainted persons and the Supreme Court should have asked BCCI to give a list of two or three persons from which it would select one for the post of president, Mr. Subba Rao said. Barring CSK and RR from IPL VII would leave five teams in the competition and the consequently less number of matches would be against the agreement entered into with the broadcasting company for telecast rights of the tournament, Mr. Subba Rao said.
