Held on charge of harassing wife on mobile phone

B. Ashok Kumar (28) of Raveendra Nagar, Kancharapalem, had a dispute with his wife Kamakshi, who is now living with her parents at Thatichetlapalem. She lodged a complaint with the police on June 23 this year that her husband was harassing her over the phone.

The case was registered at the Fourth Town police station and transferred to the Cyber Crime Police.

Inspector S. Lakshmana Murthy arrested the accused from his residence at Raveendra Nagar on Friday and the mobile which he had used to harass his wife. The accused was sent for remand.

Five arrested

Five persons were arrested by the city police in two cases reported under Kancharapalem police station limits.

E. Siva Kumar, an auto-rickshaw driver, allegedly stole around Rs. 4 lakhs and gold ornaments, weighing around 80 gm, from the house of U. Appa Rao at Kapparada area a few days ago while Appa Rao and his family members had gone to attend a wedding at Pendurthi, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) B. Prasada Rao.

Based on the complaint from Appa Rao, the case was investigated and Siva Kumar was arrested and Rs.90,000 and the stolen gold ornaments were recovered from him.

In another case, four members of a gang from West Bengal, involved in cheating a jewellery shop owner, was arrested.

Rakesh, Sabir Khan, Sanjay Kamila and Bithu Pradhan went into the jewellery shop, posing as customers, and purchased a gold ornaments by exchanging their fake gold, police said.

Based on the complaint from the victim, the four accused were arrested and around 120 gm of gold ornaments were recovered from them.
