GVMC will soon launch two initiatives to tone up the functioning of its dispensaries and schools.
The dispensaries usually face dearth of medicines, mostly for seasonal diseases like fevers.
To overcome the paucity, the corporation has decided to order generic medicines under Jeevandhara through AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said on Thursday a software would now be used at the dispensaries and hospitals that would help monitor the attendance of staff at the dispensaries.
It will also help track the use of medicines and once the stock is low it will send an alarm for replenishment.

The Jeevandhra medicines will be ordered for all the 11 dispensaries, five urban health centres and two round-the-clock referral units, according to Chief Medical Officer (Health) P. V. Ramana Murthy. The cost per month will come to around Rs.3 lakh.
“Ordering generic medicines will bring down the cost by about 70 to 80 per cent and help us overcome the paucity that is a chronic problem,” said Mr. Satyanarayana.
The software being used is similar to that being employed in corporate hospitals now.
Software with links to monitor the situation will also be used to monitor the working of schools and the attendance of students.
Each student will be given a unique identity, he explained.
