Green initiative by The Hindu

In order to raise global awareness on environment among the younger generation and to mark World Environment Day, The Hindu and Essar Foundation, CSR arm of ESSAR Group, are jointly organising a plantation drive.

The green initiative, highlighting the current year’s theme: ‘Raise your voice, not the sea level’, is being hosted at Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Residential School, Adavivaram at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The event which will be attended by Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana as chief guest and Visakhapatnam Rural Superintendent of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal as guest of honour will also see Commanding officer of 13 Andhra Battalion Colonel V.N. Bharadwaj, NCC cadets, who have been part of the camp, Principal K. Satyavathi and NCC Officer Captain Krishna as some of the participants. Later, the plantation drive will continue near the port flyover opposite Essar Steel main gate.
