‘Go and vote’ campaign gains steam

With the polling date fast approaching, people from all walks of life have decided to fight the voter lethargy and make them think of exercising their prime democratic right – vote.

All Marwari Samaj took out a rally on the Beach Road on Sunday evening where the young and old alike participated in a rally urging every eligible person to vote help Visakhapatnam achieve a record of 99.99 per cent voter turnout. Members of Agarwal Mahasabha, Marwari Yuva Manch, and Maheshwari Yuva Manch Visakhapatnam participated in large numbers. They also conducted a musical show to draw people’s attention to the importance of going to vote.

The members urged the managements of establishments, including industries, malls, shops and cinema theatres, to allow their employees to go out and vote.

At NAD X Roads volunteers of SVS Seva Samithi, in association with SPOSA, distributed pamphlets to passersby urging them to participate in the democratic process of voting.

Members of another civil society organisation, India Youth for Society, walked on the beach road in the morning carrying placards urging people to vote. They asked all their eligible members to go out and vote to achieve 100 per cent turnout.

In the morning, AP Journalists’ Forum organised a walk to increase awareness among people on the need to vote. City Police Commissioner B. Sivadhar Reddy participated in the walk.
