Participants at a three-day conference of International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Society (IBAAS) beginning here on Thursday will discuss the scope to explore investment opportunities in aluminium sector, particularly in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Make in India.’
The theme of the conference is ‘technological improvement and market development in aluminium industry with special reference to value added products’. It will also discuss market and opportunities available in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
India is the fifth largest in terms of resource availability and together with 250 billion tonne of coal reserves, the country could become the most preferred destination in the world to be developed as an aluminium hub, IBAAS president Vinod Sood, vice-president Hariharan Mahadevan, Jawahrlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development & Design Centre Director Anupam Agnihotri and conference convenor Ashok Nandi told reporters on Wednesday.

Nearly 200 delegates, 30 of them from China, Australia, Belgium, Germany and other countries, will attend. The conference, the organisers, said would act as a catalyst to give a fillip to developing bauxite, alumina and aluminium industry.
