Hoisting the national tri-colour on the occasion of the 66th Republic Day celebrations here on Monday, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University G. Subrahmanyam said that the university was planning to encourage around 500 start-up companies in the next five years.
He said that opportunities will increase, as the city is poised to become a smart city.
He said that the university was planning to start an incubation centre with the help of IT industry and encourage the graduates to start their own companies during their academics.

Prof. Subrahmanyam said that in 2014, five start-ups were launched by the students from the university. On the social service front, the upcoming GITAM Hospital will serve the community in the coming years.
University Registrar M. Potharaju, and Student Affairs Director K. Veerabhadram were present.

Unfurling the national flag, correspondent of Mrs. AVN College A.V. Adeep Bhanoji Row urged the students to work hard and bring back the glory of the country and the college.
