With cyber crime on the rise, focus will be paid to tackle this menace, said T. Yoganand, after taking charge as new Commissioner of Police of Visakhapatnam, here on Monday. He took charge from the in-charge Commissioner Suryaprakash Rao. Interacting with The Hindu post taking charge, he said, “The cyber crime police station has already been sanctioned. It now needs to be developed.”
A 1998 batch IPS officer, he was promoted recently as IGP to head the commissionerate. He earlier served as DIG (Intelligence). He worked in various capacities in Khammam, Adilabad and Rayalaseema.
This was for the first time that he will be serving in this part of North Coastal AP.

Having served in the Intelligence department for many years, I am aware of the problems of north coastal AP and Visakhapatnam city in particular, he said.
Apart from cyber crime the new CP said that certain other problems had been brought to his notice such as land grabbing, chain snatching, house breaking and traffic control. “I have come with an open mind and my predecessor has already done some work in these areas. I will continue the work and add things as and when required to better the policing,” said Mr. Yoganand.

Though Mondays will be the formal grievance day for the general public, he promised to be accessible on all days.
“People with genuine concerns can get in touch with me on any day and during any part of the day,” he said.
