Fervour marks Rama Navami

Sri Rama Navami was celebrated with Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam performed at several temples and specially organised functions on Friday.

Devotees thronged in their thousands to watch the celestial wedding, took ‘vadapappu’ and ‘panakam’ as ‘prasadam’ and partook in Anna Santarpana that followed.

Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple at Ambika Bagh a large number of devotees watched Sitarama Kalyanam along with ZP Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, MP K. Haribabu, former MLAs Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and M.Vijaya Prasad, Joint Collector II D.V. Reddy and others. MP Haribabu and his wife presented silk clothes to the deity on behalf of the government. Commissioner of Endowments Y.V. Anuradha visited the temple in the afternoon.

Executive Officer of the temple S. J. Madhavi supervised the celebrations. Y. Srinivasa Rao and Manibhushana Rao donated the pearls used along with talambralu during the kalyanam.

The festival was celebrated at many temples some of very old.

The festivities commenced a few days ago and would conclude on Saturday. Cultural programme were held in the evening.

At every place the organisers provided water and buttermilk to the devotees as they watched the celebrations in hot and humid atmosphere due to summer.
