Several experts from shipping, logistics and supply chain management will attend the third edition of East Coast Maritime Business Summit here on January 22 and 23.
Inland Waterways Authority of India Ltd Chairman Amitabh Verma, Advisor to Railways on Infrastructure Girish Pillai, CONCOR Executive Director V. Kalyanarama and others will attend to the programme.
The conference is being organised by monthly magazine Maritime Gateway with support from Ministry of Shipping and sponsorship of Visakha Container Terminal Private Ltd with Visakhapatnam Port Trust as the co-host.

The central theme of this year’s conference is to assess the prospective maritime growth on the East Coast. Experts will share their vision and lay the road map to develop infrastructure to make the entire East Coast in general and Visakhapatnam in particular a happening place.
Look-East policy
Visakhapatnam Port Chairman M.T. Krishna Babu told reporters that as part of ‘Look East Policy,’ Visakhapatnam would emerge as a leading logistics hub and hoped that the participants would articulate their views on how to attract investments to attract cargo from the vast hinterland spread over seven States within 700-km radius to Visakhapatnam.

Forecasting a bright future to maritime-based activity in the East Coast, VCTPL CEO Sushil Mulchandani said they had signed Concession Agreement with VPT for extending the container terminal to increase their capacity to over one million TEUs.
He said they would set up a container freight station in an area of 30 acres being allotted by the Visakhapatnam Port.

Maritime Gateway executive editor R. Ramprasad said that they would have several sessions dedicated to various themes befitting users and service providers for development of infrastructure along the entire East Coast of the country .
