Director-General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy commended G. Shanmukh (Std.VII) of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, who won the first prize at the school-level competition organised for students to commemorate the 150 years of policing in India, at a function organised here on Monday.
The DGP said that the logo would be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, for selection among the designs to be sent from all over the country.
The logo designed by Shanmukh was short-listed from among the designs prepared by scores of students from various schools in the city in the competition held on July 13.

The participants were asked to design an insignia that reflected the yeomen services being rendered by the police in the discharge of their duties.
Shanmukh drew a lotus with the Lion Pillar at Sarnath in the centre and the national bird (peacock) and the national animal (tiger) seated on either side.
A huge banyan tree with its leaves spread out like a canopy, providing protection, is in the background. He has written “Seva hi lakshya” meaning service is our motto. The other prizes were bagged by T.P. Harish Kumar (6 class of Delhi Public School) and Saptasri Lohia (6 class, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan) in that order. Sai Sandeep (9 class of Timpany School) secured a consolation prize.
