Curbs on autos on Beach Road

There will be restrictions on the movement of autorickshaws on the Beach Road during peak hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

The decision was taken by the city police in view of the steep increase in the number of visitors to the beach, resulting in traffic problems.

Autorickshaws will not be allowed on the Beach Road from Naval Coast Battery junction (Collectorate Down) between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays. The restrictions will be imposed with effect from May 24.

Autorickshaws coming from China Waltair and Peda Waltair side will be allowed only up to Park Hotel junction. Autorickshaws coming to YMCA, Police Officers Mess, Aqua Sports Complex, Pandurangapuram, Supreme Hotel can use alternative roads to stop 100 feet away from the Beach Road and take a U-turn to return without touching the Beach Road.

Autorickshaws coming to RK Beach via All India Radio (AIR) junction will have to stop at RK Mission and take a U-turn and those coming from Pandimetta side will have to take a U-turn at The Gateway Hotel (Taj) junction. Similarly, autorickshaws coming from Collectorate Down and those coming from Fishing Harbour side will have take a U-turn and return.
