CRZ violation: five buildings demolished

In stringent action against unauthorised constructions violating coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) norms, officials of VUDA got demolished five buildings on Saturday.

The demolition of the buildings on the seaside at Mangamaripeta Beach at Nagarampalem village of Kapupluppada went on till late night.

The buildings nearing completion in Survey Number 292 and 293 came under the scanner of VUDA for violation of CRZ Regulations. The structures identified fell in CRZ-I Zone which is defined as “No Development Area,” a VUDA release said.

Under the orders of the VUDA Vice-Chairman T. Baburao Naidu, a team of VUDA officials and staff led by Secretary A. Srinivas supervised the demolition of the buildings under construction.

Construction up to slab level was completed on the buildings in G+1 model. Though VUDA had issued notices for violation of CRZ regulations, the builder did not respond.

On the other hand, construction was continued. After a thorough verification and field inspection, VUDA officials submitted a status report to Mr. Baburao Naidu, based on which the demolition action was ordered.

A team comprising VUDA Planning Officer D. Suseela, Assistant Planning Officer K.D. Brainard and Tahsildar Gnanaveni led by the Secretary rushed to the site along with machinery and started demolition.

Police personnel from Arilova and P.M. Palem stations provided security.
