The Congress is the only secular party and all those who had left the party on emotional grounds must come back since working against it would only strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party, PCC general secretary S.A. Rahman said here on Wednesday.

Congress party would always recognise the services of its seniors or juniors and the country would progress only if the minorities and all sections supported the party, Dr. Rahman said at a press conference. He was confident that the programmes and schemes being implemented by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy would help the Congress to win the 2014 elections and wanted the Congress leaders and workers and particularly the minorities to work hard and make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. He ridiculed the claim of BJP that Narendra Modi was responsible for the development of Gujarat. That State was always ahead of other States and Mr. Modi’s role was minimal but he gained more attention due to the carnage the Muslims faced under his rule, Dr. Rahman said.

He hailed Minister for Investments and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao for ensuring merger of Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam municipalities and 10 Gram Panchayats surrounding the two towns in GVMC.
