Compensation given

Families of four police personnel of the district, who were killed by Maoists prior to 1996, received the increased compensation from DIG of Visakha Range Swati Lakra here on Monday.

A sum of Rs. 25,000 was paid to each of the families of Armed Reserve head constables G. Suryanarayana and L. Mohan Rao, AR constable L. Suribabu and constable S. Srinivasa Rao in the past. Recently the Government increased the compensation amount to Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of police personnel killed by Maoists.

Families of the four police personnel were given the balance amount on Monday. Superintendent of Police G. Srinivas, OSD Narsipatnam A.R. Damodhar were present.
