Visakhapatnam is one of the two cities in the State that will get a Climate Risk Management Plan, the other being Vijayawada.

All over the country eight cities have been selected for the plan because of their vulnerability.

Addressing a workshop on Thursday, Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said the city blessed with natural beauty was also vulnerable to disasters caused by climate change like tsunami, storms, flash floods and epidemics. The plan is meant to save the city from loss of life and property. If a firm plan is in place it will help face better any disaster that might befall the city. Global consulting firm RMSI will prepare the plan and all officials should help carry out the exercise well.
