Classical dance festival inaugurated

The fourth annual Vaisakhi Nrityostav, an all-India classical dance festival, was inaugurated at Kala Bharati here on Saturday. Additional Director General of Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy HRD Institute of AP S. Chellappa, while inaugurating the festival, appreciated the organisers for conducting the festival every year.

The Nataraja Music and Dance Academy is organising the four-day programme with the help of AP State Cultural Affairs Department and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.Noted critic and historian V.A.K. Ranga Rao, Director of State Cultural Affairs Department Harshavardhan, noted critic of Indian classical dance Sunil Kothari, photographer Avinash Pasricha, MLAs M. Vijaya Prasad and V. Ramakrishna Babu, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax Jeevan Lal Lavidiya, CEO of Symbiosis Technologies O. Naresh Kumar were among those who participated in the inaugural function.

The cultural programme started with a Kuchipudi dance recital by P. Sai Jyothi. This was followed by a Kuchipudi dance ballet presented by Sangeet Natak Akademi award winner and Kuchipudi exponent Vyjayanthi Kasi and her disciples from Bangalore. The organisers conferred Natya Sri title on Vyjayanthi Kasi.
