Chatla Sriramulu's contribution lauded

Renowned thespian Chatla Sriramulu and his contribution to the cause of modern Telugu theatre came in for praise at Andhra University Platinum Jubilee Hall here on Tuesday as part of World Theatre Day celebrations. Mr. Sriramulu was honoured with gold bracelet and was felicitated on a grand note.

Stage director and star trainer L. Satyanand who delivered key note address, termed Chatla as thespian of rare calibre. As director in the Department of Theatre Arts Andhra University, his instruction was profound and many fold. Likening Chatla with an institution, working with him results in learning on several counts, he said.

Head of the Department of Journalism Andhra University P. Bobby Vardhan described Chatla as Bheeshmachaarya of Telugu modern theatre.

Mr. Chatla in response recalled his long and eventful association with this city over half a century. He termed Visakhapatnam a nerve centre for theatre.

Stage Director Department of Theatre Arts Andhra University K.V.N.D. Prasad, S. Apparao also spoke. Family members of former make-up man in the Department of Theatre Arts Andhra University Nalluri Rangaraju organised the event.
