Thirty one essays on human emotions captured using different media are up for seeing at the solo exhibition of paintings ‘Myriad Moods’ by city-based artist Sharmla Karri that got under way here on Wednesday.
The five day exhibition was inaugurated at the Visakha Museum by trustees of the Museum Indrani Jagga Row and Mayank Kumar Deo. What makes each of these works stand out is the attention to detail.
Every nuance of the subject, be it still life or a building or a human, gets its due attention. She has worked in multiple media, with mostly on canvas.

A self trained artist, she says portraiture, still life and depiction of human form, is her driving passion. A masters in English from Andhra University, Ms. Sharmla says the turning point as an artist was when she got an opportunity to participate in a group exhibition in 2013. After the show she was commissioned for artwork.
“The most notable and occupying the pride of place is the portrait of former Maharaja of Vizianagaram P.V.G. Raju, which adorns a wall at the East Point Golf Club,” she said. Her water colour painting ‘Dharmachakra’ is at present being exhibited at Lalitha Kala Akademi in Chennai from January to February 2015.
“I am overwhelmed to be one of three artists from Visakhapatnam to be selected for the honour,” she added.

A steady stream of visitors to the exhibition on Wednesday morning could be seen appreciating the works of art.
The exhibition is on till January 18. It is open during Museum working hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. till January 16 and from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on January 17 and 18.
