Election campaign gets Ugadi touch

Candidates celebrate festival with voters and seek their support

Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna’s daughter Tejaswani taking part in election campaign in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

Election campaigning by various political parties, which has been taking place at a brisk pace, got an ‘Ugadi’ touch, here on Saturday.

Family members of several Assembly and Lok Sabha candidates from various political parties celebrated the festival with voters and sought their support. While a few women party workers offered special prayers at temples for their party’s success in the general elections, a few organised Ugadi celebrations and ‘Panchanga Sravanam’ in the party offices. Ms. Tejaswani, daughter of Nandamuri Balakrishna and wife of Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha candidate for TDP M. Sribharat, has campaigned at Murali Nagar and a few other areas. She was well received by women, who offered her ‘Ugadi Pachadi’ .

Bheemili MLA Candidate for Visakhapatnam M. Srinivasa Rao's wife Gnaneswari, daughter Priyanka and sister Vijaya Lakshmi have been conducting campaigns at various places in Bheemili. On Saturday, a women meeting was addressed by the family members.

Ms Malla Aruna Kumari, wife of MLA candidate Visakhapatnam (West) Malla Vijaya Prasad, has conducted election campaign in Gopalapatnam area. Malla’s daughter had also took part in the campaigning a few days ago. Family members of Visakhapatnam (North) MLA candidate Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Yelamanchali Constituency candidate Panchakarla Ramesh Babu have also been actively taking part in campaigning . YSRCP city president Vamsikrishna has organised Ugadi celebrations at the party office . ‘Panchanga Sravanam’ was conducted in the presence of YSRCP Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha Candidate M.V.V. Satyanarayana and a few other party MLA candidates. Similarly, a few TDP and Jana Sena Party workers have also organised Ugadi celebrations.
