8-year-old son of Visakhapatnam-based financier kidnapped

The kidnappers of an eight-year-old boy allegedly have made a demand for ransom of Rs.1 lakh to let him off.

A first standard student, Konathala Uday, son of city-based financier Srinivasa Rao, went missing on Friday morning. Mr. Rao lodged a complaint late in the night at Anakapalle Police Station stating that whereabouts of the boy were not known from 11 a.m.

Mr. Rao, a resident of Anakapalle is also an agriculturist. The kidnappers made the first call to Mr. Rao at 7.30 p.m. and tried to elicit information on his name and business. Again they made a call asking him to hand over Rs. 1 lakh in cash near the railway station on the same day by 9 p.m. failing which they threatened to take the boy by train to an unnamed location.
