BoI opens all-woman branch

Chairperson and Managing Director of Bank of India Vijayalakshmi R. Iyer inaugurated the first all-woman branch of the bank in the Visakhapatnam zone on Friday.

Addressing the mediapersons after the inauguration, she said that the bank was planning to open 50 all-woman branches, one in each of its 50 zones, for empowerment of women. “Micro finance is a very important area and self-help groups of women (SHGs) are doing well in Andhra Pradesh. These branches will focus on such areas,” she said.

She later interacted with the customers of the branch, most of them women.
