Personnel of Eastern Naval Command and the Coast Guard along with their families are organising a mammoth coastal cleanup drive on ‘International Coastal and Waterfront Clean up Day’ on September 21.
They plan to clean up Ramakrishna Beach, Rushikonda, Yarada and Kalinga beaches, including waterfronts along the Tenneti Park, Double Bridge and the Naval Dockyard.
Members of Consumer Protection Council, Lions’ Club, Rotary Club, Walkers’ Club, the NSS Wing of Andhra University, Friends Beach Walkers’ Association, Papa Home, Century Club, Y Men’s Club, HSL Scout Crew, Oxford Talent School, Human Rights Association and students of the Navy Children School will also take part.

Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana who visited the Ramakrishna Beach on Wednesday said the beach should be divided into parts, allotted to a certain number of workers for implementation of pinpoint sanitation.
Sanitation has to be given a thrust in view of immersion of Vinayaka idols going on. He asked commissioners of Zones I, II and III to make visits to the beach every morning till the immersion was completed.
