AU V-C invites DST Inspire fellows to join varsity

Work of 240 fellowship holders being reviewed by scientists

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy has invited the DST Inspire faculty fellows to select Andhra University for carrying out their innovative research.

Talent hunt

DST Inspire is a programme managed by Department of Science and Technology to attract talent to the field of science. The initiative is aimed at promoting creative pursuit of science among the youth at an early age, thereby building a human resource pool for expanding the research base.

Speaking at the inaugural of the three-day DST Inspire Faculty review meeting here on Monday, the V-C gave assurance that he would recommend to the government to absorb them into the varsity after their fellowship term is over.

AU Dean (International Affairs) E.N. Dhanamjaya Rao, who is also the coordinator for the meet, said that experts from various fields of science and scientists of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) were taking part in the meet.

Sustainable research

Speaking on the occasion through Skype, Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, deliberated on sustainable and innovative research by the Inspire faculty fellowship holders. Dr. Ashthana, Adviser and Head, Inspire Division, explained about different Inspire programmes.

Dr. Bipin Joshi and Dr. Umesh Kumar Sharma and other personnel from the DST also took part in the inaugural session. The works done by more than 240 fellowship holders are being reviewed by 70 eminent scientists of INSA, from different parts of the country.
