AU to maintain record of ragging-free campus

Panels formed at university, college levels, says Vice-Chancellor

The admission process in Andhra University has been completed and students have just joined in various courses, including engineering. And every year about 700 students opt for hostel facilities and keep its record of being ‘ragging free’ campus intact, the university administration has taken a number of initiatives to curb the menace.

Addressing the media, Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao said a central anti-ragging committee has been set-up that is headed by the Vice-Chancellor and comprising principals of all colleges, Registrar, one district judge and chief warden.

This apart there are college-level committee and department-level committees headed by principals of respective colleges and departments.

The other members include students from both senior and junior sections, including girls.

According to Prof. Nageswara Rao, hostel-level committees are also formed.
