Asilmetta flyover inauguration postponed

The proposed inauguration of the Asilmetta flyover on Monday stands postponed.

With Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy having to rush to Delhi in view of the developments related to the bifurcation of the State he had reportedly expressed his inability to come for the inauguration. Official sources said the inauguration might be scheduled three, four days later.

Meanwhile, another inspection of the bridge was carried out by Geo Technology Professor of IIT, Delhi, G. Venkata Appa Rao and Prof. Satyanarayana Reddy of Andhra University. They suggested another layer should be laid at a crack that appeared on the approach road towards the Railway Station. They also suggested that the situation should be monitored every month, officials said.

CPI (M) warns

Stating that the completion of the flyover itself took six years instead of the scheduled two years, CPI(M) has demanded that it should be opened immediately.

City secretary B. Ganga Rao said the inauguration was postponed twice stating that the Chief Minister would do it. He said if the flyover was not thrown open to public in four days, CPI(M) would inaugurate it.
