Approach with caution!

Stray dogs and poor lighting compound woes of pedestrians, and during monsoon it is a motorists’ nightmare

The direct approach road to reach Marripalem VUDA Colony from the NAD Kotha Road side is in bad shape.

The two approach roads to Marripalem VUDA Colony from the Karasa side (Marripalem Main Road) and the other NAD junction side are in bad shape.

The black topped double road in the colony stops abruptly near the Stella Maris School. A kutcha road leads to another double road in another colony nearby. This short stretch of muddy road, littered with pebbles and stones, provides an easy approach from the Kotha Road side to the rear side of the colony.

During monsoon, it is a nightmare for motorists and pedestrians to travel on this stretch. While two-wheelers run the risk of slipping on the muddy road, pedestrians may get a splash from the passing vehicles.

“The presence of stray dogs and poor lighting are other problems on this road. During the recent Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations, a stray dog went on a biting spree, injuring 10 residents on a single day,” says colony secretary V.V. Suryanarayana.

The other approach road from the Karasa side winds through wild bushes and shrubs as it has to pass through vacant land, owned by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). This road is convenient for those going to Karasa and Marripalem but the wild trees and shrubs and the deserted roads deters women from using it and the absence of street lights along the small stretch makes it all the more unsafe for them,” says C. Appa Rao, former president of Marripalem VUDA Layout Residents Welfare Association.
