With power breakdown continuing for the second consecutive day in the Samaikyandhra agitation, the GVMC switched over to alternate day water supply. Instead of about 40 mgd, 25 mgd a day will be provided.
As a result, the 35 per cent area that was left out on Monday was given priority on Tuesday. Generators requisitioned from Vizianagaram and Hyderabad and those locally available have been installed at water supply reservoirs and other pumping stations.

Though power supply resumed on Monday night, the feeders tripped on Tuesday again. The GVMC, however, has been provided a dedicated feeder to avoid power interruptions.
“With the generator sets in place whenever tripping occurs, generators will be switched on to continue pumping,” Municipal Commissioner M. V. Satyanarayana told The Hindu .
Besides, seven water filling stations have also been arranged. At Gajuwaka, Mindi, Vepagunta, Block-18, Town Service Reservoir Complex and Madhurawda filling will be taken up for which 60 tankers have been kept ready.
