Acting on a report of the Vigilance and Enforcement Department on land scandals in VUDA, the State government has issued orders asking the VUDA Vice-Chairman to cancel the allotment of plots in Sector II of MVP Colony and in Ocean View layout of Peda Waltair.
It has also asked Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj to frame charges against six employees/ex-employees of VUDA as a part of the departmental action. The six are the then secretary A. Jagadish, administrative officer Karuna Kumar, retired administrative officer Chiranjeevi Raju, senior assistants P. Ramakrishna (under suspension) and I.S. Subba Rao and junior assistant M. Errabbulu, according to Mr. Yuvaraj.
The Vigilance report was submitted in the last week of April and later circulated to the MA &UD Department.

The 4,114 square yards of land in six plots in Survey No. 5/p meant for community purpose was fraudulently allotted at the rate of Rs.3,500 a square yard on which construction of apartments has been taken up.
At Peda Waltair, 451 sq yards of land in S.No. 1008/3 A1 and A2 was allotted on the ground that the person to whom land was allotted in 1984 at Peda Gantyada was not handed over. The land was allotted in 2009 at Rs.84 a square yard.
Dr. Yuvaraj said on Wednesday, a day after CID arrested five persons for alleged involvement in land scandals in VUDA, that notices would be issued to the persons concerned for cancellation of the allotment of plots. The order also asked the Vice-Chairman to take measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

The government order has also asked VUDA to develop 24.77 acres of land in Paradesipalem land-pooling layout. VUDA entered into a GPA and acquired land but did not develop that part of the land. Now the government took a decision that since GPA had been entered into, it should be developed following one of the land owners approached court.
Dr. Yuvaraj said this would be treated as a new layout and the plots would be allotted on lottery basis benefiting the public.
