All set for Visakha Utsav today

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to inaugurate the three-day annual event

Fun zone: Arrangements being made on the Beach Road for Visakha Utsav, on Thursday.

The Beach Road stretch in the city has been all decked up for the three-day Visakha Utsav, beginning Friday. The annual event will be inaugurated by Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

A large stage has been set up at the RK Beach with a seating capacity of more than 200, while stands have been erected for the public.

To avoid untoward incidents, the officials have put up barricades so that the crowd do not enter the water. A carnival has been planned by the organisers at the Beach Road which will have traditional artists, cultural performances, tableau of a few government departments, bands from city police, navy and others.

The carnival will start from the AU Convention Centre at around 3.30 p.m. The main event is expected to start at 5.30 p.m. with the tribal and folk artistes’ performances. The inaugural ceremony will be followed by the Navy band’s performance.

Flower show

Grammy awardee Ricky Kej and band is expected to perform at around 7.30 p.m., while another noted rockband Thaikkudam Bridge will hit the stage at 9 p.m. Another venue for the event– VUDA Central Park— will have a flower show, while Shjilparamam Jaathara will have traditional events simultaneously.

Discounts at hotels

Meanwhile, the hotel merchants association members said that all hotels and restaurants will offer 10 % discounts to the customers during the three-day event.
